Jamaica won't of her own accord!

Hard-Hitting (they have to be) Jamaican number 1 newspaper 'The Gleaner' recently ran a story we should direct you to, especially if you're interested in their wonderful island or the Caribbean in general, or just think you might visit sometime...

A report commissioned by the government from the Planning Institute of Jamaica into the sustainability of the country's Tourism Expansion Programme was finished last year but was never released - and there is no indication that its recommendations will ever be adopted.

No wonder, when it criticises the scale and concentration of forthcoming big-money developments, and has harsh words for some plans in particular. Some developments currently being contemplated - nay, welcomed - by the authorities threaten the very survival of well-known natural attractions, and would even put potential tourists themselves at risk.

Hope something comes of it beyond a "We told you so"...
