Business Travellers couldn't give a...

YouGov survey shows most business travellers won't compromise their comfort for any ethical or environmental reason.

In one of those surveys that corporations are always generating to get themselves press coverage, business travel corp. The Portman Group commissioned survey company YouGov to investigate the greening of business travel. The survey of 1,300 British adults in full time employment found that 66% thought businesses should minimise the climate change impacts of business travel, but 77% of employees are not prepared to sacrifice their own benefits to aid the environment.

Why are we not surprised?

The survey also found that British business travellers generate 5.4 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, which would cost £65 million to offset.

Portman, to their credit (and, yes, this was why they planted the story), are moving into the carbon offset business, with their own Portman Forests 'product' with The CarbonNeutral Company (www.carbonneutral.com). Their customers covered 900 million km in business travel last year.
