What was Ian Pearson - junior minister on all the news, "Ryanair are not just the unacceptable face of capitalism, they are the irresponsible face of capitalism", him - what did he think he was doing? Apart from just setting Michael O'Leary off on another rant? OK, it's got to be worth doing that just for entertainment, I know, like standing outside a fence and teasing the guard-dogs. It doesn't make Ryanair look much better to me.

Options: careerism (thinks Labour are on the way out and wants to be remembered); doublethink (have junior ministers sound Eco so the senior ones don't have to bother to pretend); startling conversion of a New Labour apparatchik; or just a minister actually doing his job: Pearson is minister of state for climate change and environment.

Theories? Preferably entertaining ones!

so Blair's now revealed himself as a serious kerosenehead... Planned all along (see Option 2 above)? or a reaction 'cos Pearson went too far?
